ROTONDELLA
Rotondella is a panoramic centre of Val
Sinni, which lies on the summit of a hill dominating the neighbouring
Jonic coastal tract.
History
The habitation appeared for the first time in history by
the name of Rotunda Maris (1267).
It was a fief of the Sanseverino family which was destroyed
by the Saracens, but immediately reconstructed at the beginning
of the XVI century.
A visit to the City
A visit to Rotondella is accompanied by continual panoramic
glimpses from where one can enjoy a visit to the surrounding
territory and the Ionian Sea.
The Mother Church which is dedicated to S. Maria delle Grazie
(XVII century) and houses interesting wooden statues and the
Sant’Antonio Church with its beautiful polychromed marble
altar are both noteworthy.
In the centre one can enjoy some nobiliary buildings which
are embellished with elegant stone portals.
There are many possible visits beginning with neighbouring
Nova Siri, Valsinni, the ruins of Eraclea and the Pollino
National Park territory.
The neighbouring Jonic Coast also allows moments of relax
on its beaches which are equipped for seaside tourism.
