MILANO |
BRESCIA |
Through various temporary periods, the City of Milan,
has seen diverse transformation throughout its territory
and has experienced periods of particular splendour and
historical importance.
The urban layout of Milan is curious: it is set out in an
aureole, with the centre being the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral
Square), with a first town wall being that of the Naviglio
(mostly buried) and a second ring which corresponds with
the 16th Century expansion. In the interior of this area
is where the social, economic and cultural life of the City
takes place.
Milan and culture, are an inseparable binomial..

The urbanistic structure still shows its Roman origins today,
through its regular installation of “Castrum,”
and its strangely present, two main squares, two adjoining
and connected centres: Piazza della Vittoria – the
modern centre of the City, projected in the rationalistic
style and scrupulously by Marcello Piacentini in 1932 –
and Piazza della Loggia. ...

MANTOVA |
|
The City of Mantova, whose economy throughout
history was essentially agricultural, is situated, along
with Cremona, in the middle of one of the most beautiful
areas of the Padana Plains. It faces an evocative lagoon
divided into Lakes – Superior, Di Mezzo and Inferior
– offering an unusual view.
The name Mantova is indissolubly linked to a few names:
the poet Virgilio, who was born nearby in 70 BC, and the
Dukes of Gonzaga, who for centuries, dominated the City
by keeping it a political/military reference point. It was
also one of the birthplaces of the Renaissance...
